Primitive Antique Swaine Pottery Jug
Estate find from the home of a collector, this is a very nice large Stoneware Jug made by Swaine. Marked/imprinted on the front of the jug. Applied handle with nice decorative touch where the handle is applied to the side (see pic). Beautiful Ovoid Shape and reddish brown glaze. Some minor glaze flaws but no chips or cracks. In very nice antique condition.
Swaine pottery was being produced in Sutton Heath, England by Robert and Thomas Swaine in the early 19th century. They were known to have been producing brown and black stoneware between 1825 and 1843.Jug measures about 18\" tall. Very Nice Primitive Antique Jug from well know English Potters.
