Circa 1859Wood Engraving ofa scene inShakespeare\'sTimon of Athens, Act IV, Scene III. Thepieceis single sided, and measures ~ 8\" by 11.5\". The art is shown with and without avirtual mat (not included) to demonstrate what the art could look like framed. There piece is age toned. There is light foxing and a little soiling in the white margins as can be seen in the second photo. This is not a modern reproduction.

Timon’sservants, including Timon’s steward Flavius, are gathered to lament theirmaster’s fate and to curse their master’s supposed friends who were legion whenTimon’s coffers overflowed but who are a handful, if that, since Timon’scoffers have emptied. Led by Flavius, who distributes his meager wealth amonghis fellow servants, they resolve, despite going their separate ways, to remainloyal to Timon no matter the circumstance. As they disperse, Flavius, cognizantof his master’s desperate straits, determines to seek him out and to help himin whatever way he may yet be of service.
