Here is an authentic Ethiopian Orthodox Church bible or prayer book. This rare and ancient book has wood covers and is hand bound with twine through small holes in the wooden covers. The pages are made of vellum or parchment. The last page has been torn and the fascinating thing is that it has been repaired by sewing it back together. This Ethiopian Orthodox bible has 397 pages all of which have been hand written in the Ge\'ez language in black ink. The red ink identifies sacred members of the Holy Family. The first page has a hand colored page of a sacred individual as shown. This rare and unique book was acquired by my son-in-law\'s stepfather, who was a pastor, during one of his many travels. The book measures 5 1/8 inches in length, 3 3/4 inches wide, and 2 1/8 inches in depth. The wooden covers are in good condition with no cracks. The pages of the book are all legible but their are some pages with small holes or slight stains, or other damage as shown. The bible is in remarkable condition for its age and the fact that for more than 12 years has been stored in a basement. Please see photos for condition details or email with questions. All fragile and valuable items are wrapped in bubble wrapand packed in styrofoam noodles for shipment. This item will be insured for safe shipment. This item does not ship internationally.
