There is a mix of items from Ukraine, Poland, and nearby regions - those with text are hard to read due to significant rust/wear. Such medals were often attached to coral necklaces and other folk jewelry and worn with regional folk costumes throughout Eastern Europe. While often overlooked, these were important elements of traditional dress and are described in a number of books on folk jewelry, several of which are available in my store. This particular lot includes items in relatively poor condition, but could still of interest to a collector or someone who needs an inexpensive addition to a historical exhibit.This lot is part of a small collection of authentic and ethnic style folk jewelry from Eastern Europe that I have listed on this week so please view my other items to see the other pieces.
