Antique French c1890 heavily hand-embroidered purse - this is spectacular! The embroidery is astounding, a lush garden of flowers in the finest beauvais handwork, simply breath-taking to behold.
The brass frame is exquisite, with scrolling florals in elaborate relief, lovely enameled flowers, and rich jade or green Peking glass accents. Marked \"Made in France\" on the frame interior. An incredible piece, very fine and beautiful!
It measures about 6 inches wide, 7 inches high, with the chain about 12 inches in length. Lavishly embroidered, almost every inch covered, even the bottom.
Condition is quite good for age. I note some embroidery loss on the enamel side, and on that same side, some worn spots near the frame both left and right. Interior shows a few light spots and stains, but still looks lovely, with no tears, holes or odors.
Absolutely gorgeous - a fabulous work of art.
