\"The fabulous Easter eggs that Carl Fabergé created in the late 19th and early 20th centuries for the Russian imperial family are legendary; far less well known are the exquisite jeweled flowers and fruit the master goldsmith also created, for his aristocratic clients throughout Europe. Carved from colored hardstones, set on gold stems, and embellished with jewels and enamels, these stunning pieces delicately replicated real botanical specimens: wild roses, lilies of the valley, hawthorn flowers, and blueberries. Most of these tiny marvels disappeared or were sold following the Russian revolution. This beautifully illustrated album, a small jewel in its own right, depicts the dozens of surviving samples in public and private collections, seen in 70 color plates and 8 additional illustrations.\"
