\"UNIQUE GREEK PALASKA MUZZLELOAD CARTRIDGE
A gorgeous and very rare Greek cartridge with figural engraved decorationdepicting Greek Mythologic Goddess\"Athena\"holding her shield withapotropaic face andjavelin,participated by hissacred bird the Owl ,whichsymbolizes Wisdom.The main front part is completed with pair of eagles ready to fly from treebranches and beside of them existing a pair of Greek Flags. At the bottomexisting a number of arms like cannons and muzzle load flintlocks.The rest of decoration at the cover and at sides is a complex floral &geometricshapes on Rococo and Baroque style.On the top on the cover there is as crowned a complex with Dragons andgeometric shapes. On the back there is suspension for storage at the belt.This kind ofcartridges called \"Palaska\" were in wide use at Balkan regionsand especially this coat of arms shape cartridge were used by the Greekfighters during the Greek Uprising of 1821 against the Turks.Most of them were made either in Jannina ( Epirus ) or Stemnitsa of(Peloponnesus) and this especially decoration subject with Athena wasestablished during theexistence of the Greek Revolution (1821-1829),in a small number ofcopies, so their value is high levels between thecollectors circles. For your information this armed Athena subject withher sacred bird of wisdom, was established as the firstofficialstampof the Greek Revolutionary Administration.Normally these gilded cartridges were acomposition of low grade silverand was gilded with the famous \"Mercury\"brochure.Please examine very carefully my description and evaluateappropriate this very rare to unique antique.It is in very good condition commensurate it\'s age with minor wear anda small stroke at the left bottom corner which does not in any case affectthe finalattractive result, which is a high quality hand made work of theearly 19th century from very famous silversmiths of the period.Please not compare with several Palaskas existing for sale worldwidewhich most ofthem are later reproduction copies of very low quality,with only cast bronze procedure without any hand made work on them.
