Mid Century Folk Art on Antique flat sad iron - The cast iron is quite old - circa late 1800s to early 1900 - but the toleware painting is probably from the1950s to early 1960s

In the 1950’s to early 1960’s one of the chic decorating trends was to take the antique clothing irons from many decades before and decorate them with tole painting –

These were unique / one of a kind Folk Art pieces –

Often were used as door stops or as book ends.

I wish I could find the original manufacturer marking on this piece, but with the painting, I have been unable to see it. Also, decorative cross hatch pattern on handle and on base sides.

The artwork is a Red brick house with two chimneys and side bushes.

Possibly, a Schoolhouse? school ?

Size: weighs a little over 5 pounds. Height when standing up is approx 5 7/8th inches. Width is approx 3 5/8ths inches. Height from the base to the handle top is approx 5 inches.

Condition: Very good. No rust. Great vintage folk art toleware painting –
