8 1/2\" Long 2\" High Charmingly simple form dating from the mid to late 18th century, this is a great original example of a blacksmith made hook that would have been used in an early home to support a grease or fat (betty) lamp.

\"Betty lamp spikes\" as they have come to be known we used in early homes to support various pieces of early lighting such as grease lamps, whale oils lamps, betty lamps, etc.

The piece would have been hammered into the wall or beam of an early home.

There is some slight oxidation and light pitting to the piece from age, else a solid example, perfect for displaying a period piece of lighting.
