Antique French Art Deco Ceiling Light. c1920.

Acquired in France in December, this intriguing ceiling light is rare & unusual.

The ceiling canopy, chain links & hooks are white metal, almost a white bronze (btw not cleaned & have very minor signs of age to surfaces but all very credible) they`re good quality, smooth to touch, well made & weighty.

The shade is held by a Bakelite bulb holder, all authentic & right for the period & is original to the hook on the hanging chain as it`s an unusual size of thread, I noticed this when re-wiring.

The hexagonal shade itself is fascinating, not seen anything like it before. It`s all handmade, a wire frame (nicely misshapen - see photos) bound with blue glass tubes which are strung on wire with ball glass spacers each end - see photos. There are 21 tubes in each of the 6 segments, 126 tubes on the shade, miraculously only 4 have damage to ends - shown in full on last photo.

Two screw ports on the ceiling canopy to allow the light to be securely fixed to a ceiling.

Takes a standard B22 Bayonet bulb. Bulb holder in perfect condition.
