Made inFrance in c1850, on offeris astriking \"faux\" tortoiseshell snuff / vanity box with intricate gold pique work and central hand painting on porcelain in coral of a cherub riding a butterfly chariot. As the photos indicate, one of the finest examples of its kind I\'ve come across.

Diameter 7 cm. Condition good. No damage to painting or tortoiseshell. There was probably a glass cover over the painting when it was firstmade to provide protection, but this is no longer present.
