Selling a French or Dutch briquet short sword commonly carried by infantry soldiers during the Napoleonic war period. This one is very original with heavy brass D-guard and lightly pitted curved blade with probable period battle nick on the edge. Blade is straight. Includes the original leather scabbard with heavy brass mounts. Nice early 19th century side arm with beautiful patina. The hilt and blade are tight with no play. Leather scabbard has deteriorated over the centuries but is intact. Markings on the hilt are an M in a circle followed by 2520 and 1866. Blade and guard both stamped with *D (see pics please). No other makers marks on the blade (spine has no markings). Dimensions:
