Antique European - French - Bronze Hand Mirror with Enameled Etched Decorative Border and Lovers in Central Medallion

Up for offers is beautiful antique bronze hand mirror that is fresh from an old estate collection. It measures 8 inches long and 3 inches wide. Gilt bronze with blue and white enamel containing beautifully etched scrolling foliate design. The oval center medallion, measuring 2 5/8 x 2 inches, features a gilt copper panel with two lovers in a landscape. She is apparently opening a present, flowers at her feet. The handle is stamped \"FRANCE\" near the laurel ring at the end.

CONDITION: Very good antique condition. The original mirror, which was probably beveled, has been replaced with a modern replacement. Some age staining and patination of the gilt bronze. Also, there is some wear on the gilt copper medallion, as you can see that it is worn through to copper in the vicinity of the young man\'s head. Otherwise, normal signs of age and light use. A wonderful 19th century antique dressing table accessory! The gilt metal is richer and shinier than we were able to capture with our digital camera, so it looks even better when viewed in person!

Ships at 2 pounds. Please note that, in order to help offset our ever-increasing costs of shipping insurance and packing materials, we add a nominal handling charge of $1.50 to domestic shipments. The handling charge on international shipments is $2.50, due to higher insurance costs.
