Magnificent figural damask curtain panel, circa 1850-1890, France. Stern lions, birds, fruit and flowers, all absolutely beautiful. A rare piece. The photos aren't doing it justice. This is simply gorgeous!

Massive, itmeasures approx 94"wide by 120" long. This is 2 panels sewn together. The damask is likely silk or silk blend. Color is wine and muted gold.

Interestingly, this panel was used with the muted gold side showing. It would have contrasted with the matching pelmets, which have the wine side showing (see my other itemsto view the matching pelmets).

Condition is very good. Of course this isan old piece, so not quite perfect. I have not cleaned this. A bit musty from storage. Hemmed top and bottom. There is some damage near the center seam - that area is fragile (photos). Some spots and a couple of dark stains. An actual small hole (photo), and another right at the top. An area where it looks like the color has slightly run. But I like to be thorough in my descriptions - this really looks amazing.

At one time, this was backed with printed cotton and trimmed with passementerie, but someone has very carefully removed them. See my other items for the matching pelmets, which are in original condition with backing and trim.And I have more of these same curtain panels in smaller widths.They're all completely fabulous.
