Here on offer is an antique French Napoleonic prisoner of war straw worksnuff box.

This box came from the Trevor Barton collection, a world renownedcollector of tobacciana who died in 2008, he had been amassing the collectionfor more than fifty years. Trevor Barton received the rare honour of beinginducted into the ‘Academie Internationale de la Pipe’.

The snuff box is in circular form, the cover depicting a marquetry sceneof a tavern. The straw work has been applied to a wooden base. The straw workwould originally have been stained with rich strong colours, but have fadedaway over its long life. There are some small areas where the straw work ismissing on the lid and sides, a larger area on the base, the box displays well.Please study the photos. The box features a beautiful luxury lining.

The snuff box is offered in good used antique condition, it measuresabout 8.5cm by 2.6cm.
