Antique French Victorian Silver Ring - Bague de Foi - 19th century Romantic Fede:

Original silver Bague de Foi nineteenth century French betrothal Ring depicting a chunky heart offered by a pair of hands with engraved finger and cuff details. The design of the Irish Claddagh friendship ring had travelled to France mid 1700\'s and is probably the origin of these Rings which have a lower smaller crown just bordering the deep heart. Worn in Brittany and the Vendeen.
No markings. Approx. weight 3 grams.
Heart is approx. 10 x 8 mm, hand on shoulders 9 x 12 mm.
Interior diameter approx. 18 mms so roughly equal to Uk size P 1/2 USA 7 3/4 French 56 1/2 - slightly mis shapen so not as exact as for new ring.
Not modern heavy reproduction casting but authentic hand raised shape with etched detail.
Well contoured rounded design - comfortable shaped for everyday wear.
