Lovely antique Frenchstyle ormolu gold gilt and beveled glass casket jewel box. Glass is on all four sides as well as thetop. The lining inside is the originalsilk, somewhat faded with age. It may oncehave been pale aqua. There are no missingprongs and the gold gilt is uniform all around.The beveledglass shows a minor linear scratch on one side, and there is a minute nick andscratch on the top. However, you have toview with a jeweler’s loop to see them. Theclasp and hinge are both tight, and the bottom appears to be tin. Its size is 3.375 inches by 3.375 inchessquare and is 3.875 inches tall. Overall,this casket jewel box is in remarkable condition for its age—a wonderfultreasure.
