Antique GEORGIAN Steel Top SILVER THIMBLE & GILT Egg CHATELAINE Case c.1800
On offer is a rare Georgian Steel-Top Silver Thimble, held within a gilded egg shaped thimble holder for a Chatelaine.
The thimble is Sterling Silver with an applied Steel Top. There is a flat edge to the base and it is in round. The band is decorated with wriggle work. There are a few indentations from \"needle pushes\" but they haven\'t pierced through. A sound early example.
The Egg-form gilt thimble holder is in good condition and has been intricately embossed. There are two tiny holes to the bottom - one on each side, but I am unsure of their purpose.
A worthy addition to any needlework/ thimble collection.
