Offering for sale this complete and original Gypsy Grandma fortune tellermade by the Genco company circa 1950s. It is in excellent working condition.

This is the highly desirable PEDESTAL version of the Gypsy grandma – iteven includes the original wooden (faux) “microphone” mounted to the top cornerof the cabinet so the patron can ask their question!

The Pedestal version is preferred to the all-cabinet Horoscope Grandma(also by Genco) – because it has highly sophisticated movements: the Grandma mannequin actually NODS, TURNSHER HEAD, BREATHES AND – her right hand actually GRABS a fortune card and thenDROPS IT into the cauldron! (The card isdirected from the cauldron to the front of the machine through an internalchute). The action ends as GRANDMA BLOWSYOU A KISS with a wave of her arm.

The machine is based closely on the MADAME ZITA fortune teller designedand sold by Roovers Brothers in the late 1800s.Both machines have mannequins with articulated movements that areperformed through a set of cams and levers.The Zita was spring-powered – and the Genco machine is powered by anelectric motor.

The machine is coin operated: Drop a dime into the slot and the actionstarts.

The lower cabinet was refinished in period-correct, color-matchedtextured paint in the same stencil design as original. The upper cabinet hasALL ORIGINAL paint. The front glass isALL ORIGINAL. The top plastic dome is ALL ORIGINAL. The machine has the ORIGINALred balls and brass finials. Grandma is suited with a beautiful satin andcotton dress that is a perfect reproduction of the original. Note how the pattern and colors of the skirtare the EXACT MATCH to an original!

All internals are correct and original – having been adjusted and lubricatedto deliver consistent reliable performance.

The machine sits on an ORIGINAL cast metal pedestal that has the steppedcircle base.

It comes with over 100 fortune cards.

This is a fine example of a vintage fortune teller that isgameroom-ready.

It is located in the greater Los Angeles area. Pick-up is the best option. Delivery and setup to the local area (within 100miles) is available for a nominal fee.

Shipping can be arranged – all costs of shipping are to be paid by thebuyer. There are several optionsincluding a very reliable bonded private hauler I have used for severaldeliveries.
