Beautifully Crafted as a Book; Made byTaylor & Perry

A superb example of an early Sterling Silver Vinaigrette, which has been fashioned withincredibledetail as a beautifully bound book by the soughtafter firm of Silversmiths Taylor & Perry.The Vinaigrette is fully hallmarked for the period,with hallmarks on the gilded inner lid and on the gilded inside of the base of the book (see pictures 9 & 12) withthe following:

King\'s profile (William IV - please see photographs), Makers Mark - \'T&P\' and the Lion Passant mark to indicate Sterling Silver. In addition the inside of the base has an Anchor - TownMarkfor Birmingham; and the date letter \'N\' for 1836

The Vinaigrette has been hand crafted in the shape of a beautifully bound book, with stunning foliate hand chasedengravingand a level of detail that highlights every page whenviewedfrom the side. The lid is pin decorated and engraved with a hand chased foliate scroll surrounding a cartouche in the shape of a shield, which is engraved with the letter \'M\'. The foliate scroll engraved decoration continues to underside of the Vinaigrette, as you would expect with a piece of this quality.

The lid opens to reveal a gilt interior with a beautiful pierced hinged grille with a floral motif and finest quality foliate engraving.The overall condition of this superb piece is great, as shown in the photographs provided, which form an integral part of the Vinaigrette\'s description.The Vinaigrette has the following dimensions: it is approx\' 34mm x 21mm x 7mm and it weighs: 14.7 grams.

This would undoubtedly be a rare and wonderful addition to any collection that is sure toappreciate in value.
