This antique, sterling silver coffee pot is from the Georgian period and dates to 1760, the year that King George the Second died and his grandson, George the Third, ascended the throne..
The maker is probably John Bayley, who registered his mark in 1751.
The baluster (some would say pear) shaped pot has a cast spout with acanthus detailing and a wooden handle. Measurements:

Spout to handle: 20 cm (7.9 in)
Diameter of opening 6.8 cm (2.7 in)

Maker: ?B, probably for John Bayley. (The Hester Bateman B has a slightly different form and she registered her mark in 1761).

Good overall original antique condition
Hinge is solid with no wobble.
No splits.
Original wooden handle.
Patina consistent with age, with some minor scratching and a number of shallow dents around the widest part of the belly. These were impossible to photograph.
The hallmarks are clear but not sharp, as a result of more than two centuries of polishing.
The makers mark is the worst affected, with the first initial being almost obliterated. (There is a very similar coffee pot which has no makers mark, for sale on the internet from a prestigious London dealer for more than double this starting offer).If insurance and/or a different shipping option is required please ask for a quotation.
