Antique Georgian Sterling Silver Teapot 1804 Solomon Hougham Count of Fortune:

This sale is for an Antique Sterling Silver TEAPOT made by Solomon Hougham in 1804.

The Pot, whichmeasures approximately 11 inches long and weighs approximately 509 grams, features a Pineapple finial and a wonderful armorial of what I believe is a Wolf or Dog under a large Oak Tree with the Latin Words \"Virtutis Fortuna Comes\" which translates into \"Count of Fortune\".

Aside from somewhat to be expected minor dents, this pot has several seam leaks - at least one of which has tried to be repaired (please see close-up photo).

Although the Pot leaks, it is still a Very Nice display item.

NOTE: I got my translation from Google translation; however, a fellow er has sent me the following email. - \"The motto means \'Fortune is the companion of Courage\' - much like the more famous motto \'audaces fortuna adiuvat\' it claims that courage is rewarded with good luck. Though it may be a count\'s motto the meaning of \'comes\' is a different one.\"
