Antique, tiara. 18k yellow gold, silver and rose cut diamonds. Made during the Georgian - early Victorian era, circa 1800-1850, France.

At least 6.50 carats of diamonds. Weighs 30 grams.

Semi circular, entirely composed of silver, gold and diamonds. As was normal in the 19th century, all diamonds were set in silver to show off their whiteness to better advantage, and then the jewel was backed with gold. A band at the bottom, channel set with diamonds it\'s entire length. Above this is a row of slightly pointed gradated arches, set in the same way. In the center of each arch, protruding from the band, is a round diamond in a silver setting. Larger arches tower above the lower row, each with a large round diamond in the middle and a central diamond in the center of the tiara. The larger arches have a pear-shaped / round setting, set with large diamonds and the smaller arches besidesthem have diamonds on knife-edge mounts.

The tiara is built up of segments. See joins magnified in the \'photos for construction method. The base is further strengthened by another ring of white gold on the inside. This ends in large loops at either end. These would be used for threading a ribbon in order to further secure the tiara on the head. (there might be jewels on the ribbon and the ribbon might go around the head or around the ears. ).

French hallmarks for 18k gold.

Good condition, especially considering the age and delicacy of the item.
