Very attractive antique German candy container in the form of a rabbit with a little boy doll rider.. It has a compelling appearance but there are condition problems. The doll has no eyes or hair and the bulk of his shoes is missing. The bisque head has the number \"8\" on the back and it is somewhat dirty.His clothes while all intact, are faded with an old but nice patina . He may have been carrying a flower in his one hand but that is gone and only a portion of the original \"boquet\" remains. The rabbit has problems with the front feet (see photo) and the right rear leg is loose at the middle joint being held in place by the fur covering.The stitching of the fur (mohair ?) covering is good overall , but the base of the left ear has some separation as does the area by the front feet and the lower right rear leg The red carrot the rabbit was nibbling has come loose from his lips, though that should be an easy fix. His big glass eyes look very alert. There is a small chip off his left nostril.. The head which is the lid still fits quite well.The ribbon around his neck seems to be a part of the original attire. He stands if positioned gently but the weakness in the rear leg is a problem The overall length is about 8\" and the height about 8 1/2\". In spite of its condition the container maintains a strong collectability for its unique style and rarity.
