This elegant Louis Philippe style decanter and glass rack from the interior of a 19th. Century Tantalus measures 8 5/8” tall x 8 3/8” x 7 ¼” overall and retains a great deal of its original fire gilt finish. The dark wood with gleaming French polish bears a paper label, “DEPOSE”, so it is likely French, though it could be German. The rack is designed to hold 4 decanters with maximum 2 ¾” diameter and will hold 8 wines and 6 cordials; it’s tough to guess the sizes of these glasses.
