Description

This sale is foran antique 100% hand painted\"Royal Vienna\" style porcelain vase, signed Richter, decorated at Donath Porcelainstudio. The subject is \"Echo.\"The entire vaseis beautifully executed with a wonderfully detailed portrait. It iscylindrical shaped with a fluted neck.

Theminiature vasemeasures4½\" tall by 2½\" in diameter. The vase is heavily gilded with raised gold and pale blue enamel beads.The oval reserve contains a handpainted portrait entitled \"Echo.\" The artist\'s signature, Richter, appears in the lower left of the portrait.

The base is marked on the bottom over the glaze withthe name of subject, \"Echo,\" the blue bindenschild or \"beehive\" mark, and the name of the decorating studio, Donath. There is also a gold flower overthe glazewhich appears to cover the mark of the actual manufacturer of thevase itself. This was a common practice at that time.There are also some gold inventorynumbers along the edge of the base.Based on the subject matter,style,and the absence of the country of origin, thevaseprobably datesto the 1875 - 1893 time period.The style and decorating studio suggest this vase was manufactured and/or decoratedin Germany.

CONDITION:

ThevaseisinEXCELLENT condition withNOchips, cracks,scratches or repairs. The gilding appears to be completely intact with no missing areasor noticeable wear; however, I noted3 missing or incomplete raised gold beads at the bottom to the left of the reserve, and 1/2 of a raised blue enamel bead missing on the back of thevase. They do not distract from the visual presentation of this piece. Please look at the photos.Any white spots or lines in the photographs are from the flash and are not damage.
