Antique Heywood Eclipse Industrial Machine Age School Desk with Cast Iron Legs
The adjustable legs are marked Eclipse Heywood and are marked with numbers as shown. They are easily removable.
The desk measures 21\" wide x 13\" deep x 24\" high the way it\'s pictured. You can adjust the height up another 1-1/2\" and down about 4-1/2\". That makes the overall height range about 19-1/2\" to 25-1/2\", and the overall leg adjustment 6\".
If you want just the legs, we can ship just them (reduced shipping cost will be calculated after the sale is completed and the legs are removed from the desk). They measure 9\"wide x 2-3/4\"deep at the bottom overalland 6-3/4\" wide x 3\" deep at the top overall including mounting holes.The feethave two screw holes per foot (two feet per leg) and four mounting holes at the top. The height range of the leg itself ranges from about 13-1/2\" to 19-1/2\" (the wooden desk top is 6\" high).
The desk top has an ink well hole (no ink well) and a cubby under the top.
The wood has darkened with age (well over a century, I believe, since Heywood-Wakefield wouldn\'t be formed by the merger of Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company until about 1897) It has a thin crack along the grain near the ink well and running into the desk some. Something was screwed to the top next to the ink well as shown. A brass tag is attached to the left side as shown. The woodshows its age and great characterwith lots of marks, paint and ink splatter from use over the years.
The iron has oxidized some, expecially toward the bottom. I don\'t see any cracks, breaks, repairs, or missing pieces.
To reduce shipping costs we will remove the legs from the wooden top. If you would like to pay to have the desk shipped assembled, please email for a shipping quote.
