This is an antique hinged burl wood / Birdseye Maple wood snuffbox or cigarette case.

I am uncertain as to exactly how old it is, but it definitely has very good age.

It measures 3 1/2 inches wide by 2 3/4 inches deep by 5/8 inch high (8.9 cm x 7 cm x 1.6 cm).

I believe this box is Russian, based on similar examples I’ve seen.

In addition to being a snuff box or cigarette case, it would be great just for holding trinkets or coins.

The box has some tiny scratches to the surface. Otherwise, it’s in very good condition.

It weighs 1 ounce (26 g).
