DESCRIPTION:
Fine antique Hopi Pueblo Kachina doll from the American Southwest.
Carved and painted cottonwood with applied animal fur. Cotton string.
This Kachina depicts a figure wearing a black ceremonial helmet. The figure has brown animal fur draped on its head and body, and there is a single horn at the top of his head. The carving is naturalistic and the wood is painted in traditional colors. The Kachina has an old yarn string for hanging on the back.
This old Kachina has a bold presence, pleasing form, and the colors are striking. Please note that the Kachina does not stand by itself, but was hung by its cotton string while being photographed. It could stand on it\'s own with an addition of a small felt pad to the right foot, if desired.
