Description: Cameo:

This is an absolutely beautiful Victorian museum quality cameo of Pomona thegoddess of fruitful abundance from ancient Roman religion and myth. Hername comes from the Latin word pomum, \"fruit,\" specificallyorchard fruit. (\"Pomme\" is the French word for \"apple\").This cameo is of the finest quality.Her hair is decorated with masterfully carved grapes, vines, an apple,roses, grains, grape leaves, daisies, bellflowers, and other fruits/flowersthat I cannot identify. The level of detail is tremendous. This is one of thefinest depictions of this theme that I have ever encountered. Her face isbeautiful, the lips, eyes, and nose are almost photo-realistic. There is awonderful three dimensional aspect to the cameo particularly around the garlandof fruit and flowers in her hair. You can see each petal on the flowers as wellas most minute details including the pupils of her eye. The approximate cameo size is 2.1875inches (5.5 cm) Length by 1.75 inches (4.4) Width.

Brooch:

The 14K (acid tested) brooch is quite simple. I have tested the broochand pin and both tested 14K. The trombone clasp on the back of the broochappears to be a replacement and did not test positively for gold.

The approximatetotal size of the brooch is 2.3125 inches(5.9 cm) Length, 1.9375 inches (4.7 cm) Width. I did not remove the cameo from the brooch toweigh it separately. Together they weigh 23.0 grams.

Condition: Overall the cameo is in near perfect condition with no visible issues. Thereare no natural lines visible which is very rare for a cameo of this age. Icould not identify any concerns specific to the cameo. It could use a good cleaning.I have made every effort to provide accurate photographic evidence of anyblemishes I have identified during my inspection of the item.
