Beautiful and well preserved antique Imperial Russian cup and saucer. Hand painted and produced in late 1800s to early 1900s for Eastern, possibly Persian / Turkish markets, where Russian porcelains were in great demand at the time. Nobility stirved to own multiple tea sets, to impress their guests by changing porcelain tea services several times during one tea party or dinner... Such were the fashions of the day... Nicely fluted body that shows very little wear - minimal to none wear to the paint and gilding except for noticeable loss of gilding to the edge of the saucer. No cracks or chips, except for one or two very shallow and small flea bites to the rim of saucer. ( please examine last photos). A few dark specs are imbedded in porcelain ( saucer). Please examine all photos, and satisfy yourself with the condition of the pieces, as I do not accept returns on porcelain. Additional photos shall be posted shortly. Lightweight, delicate porcelain, the set weighs approximately 188 grams ( less than 7 oz) according to my postal scale.
Both pieces are marked with Kuznecov mark, used in 1889-1917 for Eastern markets.Please do your own research and ask all question prior to offerding, as I am not an expert on antique Russian porcelain, but prior to listing I consulted Russian sources such as porcelain marks inventories, as well dealers and collectors in St Petersburg, Russia.
