Antique Imperial Russian Ring Peridot Diamond Gold Gentleman\'s Ring (5887):

Antique Victorian - Edwardian Ring - suitable as gentleman\'s signet ring. 14k gold diamonds and peridot. Made circa 1900 - late 19th to early 20th century. Imperial Czarist Russia.
Measurements: US size 8. Round, faceted peridot weighs 5.0ct; 18 Old European cut diamonds totalling 1.80ct and appraised as G-H in color. Weighs 9.0 grams.
Ring can be worn by either a woman or a man, but was probably made as gentleman\'s jewelry. Signet ring / cluster ring with a large, round peridot surrounded by prong set diamonds and with wide shoulders falling away from an apron of gold around the diamonds. Subtle engraved waves on the shank. Gold is reddish in tone. The peridot is exceptionally bright and lively with a full, generous shape. Diamonds are also of a very good quality, as are design and workmanship.
Marks:
Imperial Russian mark with a double headed eagle and the number 56 for 14k gold. This mark was supposedly used by Imperial / Czarist decree and indicates a top maker such as Faberge. A very tiny mark, only visible with 20Xmagnification shows a Russian star.
