This pitcher is from j & mp bell\'s Glasgow pottery in Scotland. It\'s trasnferware with a print commemorating the wedding of the prince of wales and princess Alexandra in 1863. The pitcher is in the \"Sapho\" shape that was used for many other designs from this company. There were three pitchers issued by bells for this wedding. One targeted for the rich, one was for the poor, and one was for the middle class. This jug, was targeted at the middle class. It is a very fine transfer with bells beautiful blue green ink, and the whole pitcher stands out and demands your attention.

This pitcher is in fantastic shape considering it is over 150 years old! There are no chunks missing or repairs to this pitcher. There is a fine crack where the top of the handle meets the body of the pitcher, but there is glaze in the crack which means this small crack occurred before the pitcher was put into the kiln. I point it out with a peen cap up close in one of the photos. There is also a small chip in the glaze on one of the leaves on the prince side, but it\'s hardly noticeable. There is also very fine crazing in the glaze, but if something is this old it\'s to be expected. Please review all the photos in detail to make sure this pitcher meets your quality standards.O
