(pretty invisible anyway! :) I am cleaning my corner cupboard, but as other pieces have gone along to new homes, and as I have more room now, may soon decide to remove this plate from market.. !
A very special and lovely piece ~~Aside from the amazingly detailed gold border, ..just to hold it, the vellum finish is amazingly \'soft\'~
RARE!1 Beautiful Jugendstil gold border design on this little East German \" WHITE ROSES\" tea plate with lovely white satiny, velvety feelingVELLUM FINISH ..(as intended, was not made with a high gloss)
Side, Bread, Tea Plate 5-7/8\" Does Have an ISSUE:
1) some slight wear to gold evidenced,
2) and, unfortunately (located near one of the single roses); a 1\" tight hairline crack at edge (runs from rim towards center)~I overlooked this until I saw it on the backside, but it does show to the front when scrutinizing.So if it were me, I wouldn\'t try to put a wire hanger on this plate, but just let it stand upright so as to enjoy this beautiful border design~Super Sweet, lovely little piece. Came from the same estate as the RS \"brambles\" small bowl I have listed~Due to the Jugendstil design, this plate likely dates to the 1910\'s or very early 1920\'s at the latest.
The maker, Anton Muller opened his own factory in 1907, in Volkstedt (Rudolstadt, Thuringia) which was obliterated in 1945 by Allied bombing in WWII. (He later reopened in Ireland, MV Ireland, sometimes with a black shamrock, and those wares known as \"Irish Dresden\")~..Original MV Germany was about 100 miles from the actual city of Dresden, but is sometimes referred to as originating from the area, hence I have this listed within the Dresden category. HTF~ We just don\'t get to see enough of these lovely dinnerware and tea service patterns from that period and region.
