Antique Japanese Cloisonne Dragon Vase Lamp Foil Ginbari Enamel Meiji Era Works:
$29.99

This sale is for a striking Meiji era Japanese cloisonne lamp that also utilizes the ginbari foil technique. It has a sparkling amethyst foil ground with a large green, pink, white and blue dragon circling the center. There are several layers of borders, the one just above the shoulders of the vase/lamp has an alternating butterfly and flower pattern with a row of cobalt scales above that and a row of waves above that followed by a border of green scales and finally cobalt beads. The base of the vase/lamp has several rows of green scales. The lamp portion is brass and as shown it has been tested and works though it has an old plug and pull. The vase has the usual surface spotting and unfortunately also has a thumbprint-sized circle of chipping/enamel loss just above the dragon\'s torso as shown. The lamp shows a lot of patina and also has a large crack on the brass base, but the piece as a whole is still very attractive. The lamp measures 12 1/2\" tall and the vase measures approximately 7\" tall.
