Original Antique Jules Jouant Art Nouveau Vase, French Sculptor (1863-1921). This Art Nouveau vase by the famous sculptor Jules Jouant is in good antique condition on the top part, but the bottom base has a repair where a 1 5/8\" piece was glued back on the base. The underside of the base is very thin where it has been repaired & is in need of restoration. Please be aware of this before offerding. This is being sold \"as is\". I don\'t want anyone to be disappointed, so look carefully at the photos with the zoom & read the description. The vase is a beauty, despite the repair. It is 8\" high, 4 1/4\" at it\'s widest, the base is 2 3/4\" across & the rim is 2 1/8\" across. It weighs 2 pounds 12 ounces. It is made of spelter metal with a beautiful subtle finish. The nude woman has a bronze-like finish, the rest of it has subtle tones of green, brown & blue. The design is stunning, a nude woman holding on to the the top of the vase with one hand & with the other hand she is using a stick with line toenticea fish out of the water. She is standing on leaves from cattails that come up behind her & cross the front of the vase, with the cattail tops extending over the rim of the vase opposite her. Around the bottom at the widest part of the vase, is a pond or lake with aquatic plants & fish swimming in the water. One appears to be a flying fish! It is just beautiful. It is signed on the back in the water area, Jouant. Jules Jouant was active from 1882-1921 & mostly produced art pieces in the Art Nouveau style. He also worked with August Rodin. This is adesirable piece of as his work is getting harder to find. So here\'s your chance to add a Jules Jouant vase to your Art Nouveau collection.
