It is a very fine and well made piece. We believe it dates back to the 1890\'s to early 1900\'s or thereabouts. The item is in very good vintage condition with only some normal expected minor wear. No serious problems. Far nicer then many we see. There is no doubt that the tremendous high quality of such early pieces were not and could not be replicated in more modern times. This great Jewel measures approximately 3 inches in total length, top-piece included. The pin is intact anf fully functioning. The inscription on the Top Tier reads as “PITTSBURGH”. There are components here that are both Gold and Silver in colour. Probably some type of plating over a brass foundation. Although the old catalogues listed such unmarked jewels as being either gold-plate, gilt, silver-plate or silver, we are not jewelers and therefore cannot say one way or another what this wonderful old gem is made of. If it has actual gold or silver or if it is a golden coloured metal of some type, we do not know. However, if it were marked as either, our start price would be far higher that what we are listing this piece for. This is a genuine historic relic that is most beautiful and highly collectible.
