Offered on sale is an antique mahogany veneer and marquetry inlaid sewing box or trinket box.
Nice marquetry banding to lid and front of box. The hinged lid opens to reveal the original silk and paper lined fitted interior.
Condition: The box has some wear and tear. At some point the escutcheon at the front has probably been replaced or repaired with a rectangular panel of brass. The wood has a nice patina and the inlay is generally in good condition. There are a couple of small Thechips to the mahogany veneer to the sides of the box. The box has a few scuffs and scratches commensurate with age. The interior paper lining is a little chipped and tanned with age `see photos).
