Antique & Rare Calvary Sabre/Sword~Etched Blade~Jacob Gminder Description

Up for saleis a rare most likely post civil war calvary sabre which is marked Jacob Gminder Baltimore Minn - a USA manufacturer who immigrated from Europe and was knownat the time for producing items for the war which includedsome civil warswords and many buttons. This sword was probably from the time period of the Indian Wars/Spanish American War of 1872. The sword has an etched blade with US inscribed on one side and the other side has an eagle amongst other designs. This sword does not have a scabbard and measures approximately 39 3/4\" in total length and the blade length is 33 6/8\" with the width of the blade being 7/8\" by the guard. The wire wrapped leather handle does show wear and tear. The handle and blade are a tight fit however the guard is a little loose. There is considerable age and wear to the blade and the etching.
