Description: No. 6 of a series of sea and river gods. State: First state of 2. Ref: New Hollstein 418. Artists and Engravers: Made by \'Philips Galle\' after own design. Philip (or Philips) Galle (Haarlem 1537 - Antwerp 1612) was a Dutch publisher, engraver and designer. He is mainly known for publishing Old Master prints and engravings of paintings active in Antwerp. He published many prints by Collaert, Goltzius and other engravers.

Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: \'Portunus.\' - The Roman God Portunes, a god of harbours and ports. He is shown holding a fish/dolphin with a harbour (Rome - Ostia) in the background.

Condition: Very good, given age. Ample margins. Left margin minimally uneven and with binding holes. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 13.5 x 19.7 cm. The image size is ca. 10.1 x 16.8 cm.
Size (in inch): The overall size is ca. 5.3 x 7.8 inch. The image size is ca. 4 x 6.6 inch.

Medium: Engraving on hand laid (verge) paper. Watermark: Double headed eagle = Vosges paper.
