Fantastic Antique Mettlach Etched #1861 German Military Beer Stein with an Engraved Silver Lid. Dated 1898. The front features Kaiser Wilhelm I wearing an Iron Cross and the sides have a Prussian ribbon and floral decoration. Thebottom has the Mettlach Castle Abbey makers mark, 1861, 2, Geschutzt, Gegen. Nachbildung and 88 (the Villeroy & Boch date code when it was made - 1888). The silver lid has an engravedinscription \"Andenken von Muzic - Verein Emden 1-11-98\" (January 11th, 1898).There is a silver markingon the tang\"00 - N\" (see photos) and it isabout8 3/4\" high. This stein is mint with only some slight wear & tarnish to the lid (see photos). No Cracks, No Chips, No Repairs and Best of All ... .
