ANTIQUE MEXICAN SILVER SIGNED AZTEC STYLE LARGE BROOCH PIN c1920:

This large item of Mexican silver jewellery measures 2¾\" wide and is just over 1½\" high.

The pin is marked on its back with an intaglio stamped ‘900’ indicating the purity of silver used.

This grade of silver was employed in Mexican jewellery during the years between 1900 and 1920.

I guess this piece dates to the later part of this period.

It is Aztec in style and bears a representation of an Aztec deity.

The pin bears two other marks beside the grade of silver, both are indistinct but the mark on the extreme right hand seems to be a monogram with a floral ‘M’ entwined by a stylised ‘G’.

Middle mark less distinct but a capital F followed by OKY or ORY as far as I can make out.

Brooch in excellent condition, a bold and beautifully crafted item of Mexican silver!
