From acollection of a retired diplomat, it is our pleasure to offeran extremely attractive18th Century French miniature clock in guilt bronze with a malachite base. The malachite is mounted on metal.My clock maker advised that the clock\'s maker(Berthoud) was in business during the mid 18th century. He was known as Clock-maker to the King. was purchased in Russia when the diplomatwas posted there in the 1990s. It portrays the Scandinavian Goddess, Freyj. in a chariot pulled by two lions.Beautifully modeled in gilt bronzesitting on a malachite base. The Goddess has chains attached to the two lions that pull her chariot.Signed Berthoud, Paris.Clock has a fusee mechanism. It is in the form of a watch mechanism with no pendulum. It runs periodically. It should be cleaned. Please see photos.
