Produced by Minton of England, this fine white porcelain cup and saucer set was created for Davis Collamore & Co. Ltd, a high-end New York City importer of porcelain and glass, headed by Davis Collamore (1820-1887). The New York importer would commission blank porcelain pieces from Thomas Minton & Sons and add custom designs to the Minton china, often for private customers. This elegant set was hand-painted by decorator, A. Taylor, who signed the saucer. Both pieces feature a beautifully detailed floral motif with gold gilding adorning the scalloped rims, and handle and base of the cup. The saucer (pattern #H2295 T) measures approximately 5 1/2\" in diameter and the cup (pattern #H2295 4) measures approximately 4 3/4\" in diameter (incl. handle) and 2\" in height. The Minton red crown over globe mark is part of the underglaze backstamp and dates this set to the early 1900\'s. Also included on the backstamp is \"Davis Collamore & Co. Ltd Fifth Ave and 48th St New York\". Each piece includes a small impressed mark on the base but I was unable to decipher. This set is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, discolorations or any other evidence of damage. A lovely and delicate cup and saucer set hand-painted on fine Minton china.
