Description
This piece has the Mintons Globe mark in brown and is also stamped with the mark of the store that carried this pattern, T. Goode & Company, of London. I believe this dates to around 1850. Some of the green on the rim has flaked leaving the transferware design and a pink color. Looks a bit like a speckled snake skin pattern. This is obviously from time of manufacture for the over-glaze to have flaked in this manner, usually a sign that the piece was underfired and indeed this does have a subtle, underfired appearance. (I have my degree in art and majored in ceramics).
This measures 9" wide and the surface is beautiful, nice scalled ribbed pattern molded into the piece and the bird is very exotic. This will make a stunning accent in your formal interior. The flaked glaze makes this even more attractive as far as I am concerned.
