For sale is a very beautiful and old antique ship model antique model boat. It is the hull only of the sailing ship \"STAR\". I found this in Boston many years ago. The model measures 41 1/2\" length overall. It was originally made to be sailed on water as a pond boat, as the keel is composed of a heavy lead strip. The paint and markings are certain to be original to the model. It would look outstanding on the mantel or mounted on the wall. It measures 7 1/2\" at the beam and weighs a hefty 16 lbs. There are some fittings still on the deck including stairs and a capstan. Interior is hollow and was carved from a single piece as opposed to plank over frame construction. I estimate the age as approximately 1870\'s to 1880\'s, though this is really an educated guess based on the construction and the overall appearance, plus my own experience with antique model ships and boats. It actually could be older. I think very unlikely to have been made in the 1900\'s. I have had this piece for a long time but time to see someone else enjoy it.
