Antique Morris Recliner Chair—From Paine’s Furniture, Boston, Mass.:
$125.00

This is an early Morris chair from Paine’s Furniture, Boston, Mass. It’s probably dates from about 1890 to 1910, and appears to be cherry wood. According to an old catalog from Paine’s that I found on the Web, these were made in oak and cherry, and were made in various versions. The arms are curved (concave from the top), and have elegant turned supports. There are casters on the legs. The back has three adjustable positions, set by the placement of a metal rod.
The width of the chair is 24”. The height of the back varies with the setting, but is about 39” in the middle position. The arms measure about 27½” from front to back. The cushions are original, but covered in newer, well-made zipper covers in pastel flame-stitched upholstery fabric. The original tufted cushions inside are worn, but appear to be the original upholstery. The frame is in good condition, but needs new webbing and minor repair of the frame that supports the seat. One of the arms shows some wear from use. Please see the pictures.
