Antique Mughal Indian Islamic Steel Talwar Tulwar Sword c1700's
This is for an antique Mughal Indian Islamic steel tulwar sword, North India, Mughal period (1526–1857), circa 1700's. The very broad curved blade, is single-edged, with a single fuller, and a double edged tip. The blade is distinctly stamped at the forte with two marks, most likely a military garrison or an arsenal mark. The steel hilt has a flat disk pommel with spiked terminal, and a very attractive lotus bud tipped scroll knuckle guard, in the Mughal Islamic style. This tulwar measures 859 mm in length overall.The blade measures 710 mm in length along the back edge. It weighs 1,010 grams. Theconditionis generally excellent,withoutdamage or repair, the steel blad and hilt have the patina of age. Please see images.
