Fine Antique Nautical Watercolor Painting of 2 Sailing Yachts. One at sail and prominent and the other , in the distance with sails down. You can see 4 Sailors on deck. It is inscribed on the back :\" From Wm Shinzell ( could be Shurzell or Shunzell ) to DG Desmond 1871. It is possible that the person it is from did not paint it. I did not find any listed artists with a similar name and it is very well done. The ocean is painted so well, I feel it is by an artist of note. It is on paper and is glued to artist board. It was probably painted a bit before 1871. Approximately 8 3/8 x 5 7/8\" . It is American , the Flag flying is the Union Jack. There was no frame with it , but it was once framed as you can see from the pictures. It does have a few spots on it from age and light, and the stain from the glue at the top. There is a section on bottom left with some minor cracking of the paper. Please look at the picture and ask any question. .
