This is a fine quality earlier antique Enamel Knights of Malta Cross Jewel from a Commandery in New Jersey. It probably dates back to circa the 1890\'s to early 1900\'s. The Jewel is in very good vintage condition with only some normal expected minor wear There are some common, very thin, light cracks on the enamel (but it is quite solid). This is normal ageing for genuinely old pices. No serious problems. The ribbon is stong and very attractive. As is the entire Jewel. This is definitely one of the better ones! It measures approximately 3 ½ inches in total length, ribbon included. An essential Jewel for any Knight Templar as this Enameled Jewel symbolizes his having first achieved the important York Rite rank of Knight of Malta. In the case of the symbolism here, it combines the legacy of the Medieval Warrior Monks with Freemasonry’s focus on loyalty to country. This Jewel incorporates symbols related to the military. Traditionally, American Templars have served valiantly in all the wars. There is no makers marking that we see. The maker here is every inch as fine and important as any of the great sword makers (who themselves also ventured into jewelry) such as “The Ames Sword Company”, “M. C.
